I’m posting this entry on behalf of Peter (my name is Jonathan – a long time friend of Peter who he has mentioned a few times in the blog). Peter says:
“Unfortunately last Friday (December 15th) I was taken ill and find myself in hospital. While I am making a slow but steady recovery, it will be a few weeks before I am well enough to continue my adventures in electronics, but In the meantime I hope to have a few guest posts and will be keeping up with any conversations as best I can. Jonathan will post some updates on my health and my friend MrShark will try and help with any technical queries. Please do keep an eye on the blog and I look forward to resuming normal service as soon as I am able.

  9. Peter I hope you are taking it easy and recovering. I know what its like as in 2012 I didn’t feel to good and went to Düsseldorf uni clinic on a Sunday in July 2012. I reached the reception that’s all I remember till 6 days later when I woke up in the intensive care ward, having had a heart attack in the hospital. They did a quad byepass on me.

    After 26 days I was discharged and sent on a “cure”- In Germany after an operation you go on a 4 week intensive post op training and eating stint.

    Anyway what I wanted to say is that it takes a bit of time to recover just one step at a time will do it.
    I wish you and your family all the best in health and happiness, and that you will be blogging for many years to come

    Sorry to read of the difficulties you are having! You and your loved ones are in my prayers for complete and speedy recovery, as well as peace and comfort in the difficulties you are facing.

    As many have already said we are selfishly awaiting your return to the IOT workbench. Your contributions – dare I say leadership – are missed and we eagerly await news of your recovery.

  36. Best wishes Pete and please don’t try to hack the medical equipment as I did when the nurses could get the wireless heart rate monitor working.

    Still, it did get me lots of attention when the “He’s dead again” alarm kept going off. Eventually, they just ignored it!!!!

    and if you want to sound knowledgeable about the MRI just ask them how the pin diodes are goin!

  62. Pete – Sorry to hear about the health issues, here is to a ‘Full Deploy’ of a bug free flow and you getting up and running.
    While we will all miss you, your long term health is the key, so don’t rush things, get plenty of rest and we will see you again when you are good and ready.

  68. After hearing that Peter suffered a stroke I’ve been extremely worried for him (and for myself – where would I get my regular tech fixes from!).

    My wife suffered a stroke 5 years ago, and for a while all she could say was “Fish and Chips” and “Giraffe”. Useful phrases in some situations, but somewhat limiting when it comes to having a deep and meaningful conversation. It sound as though Peter is in a much better position, for which I’m extremely thankful.

    Hope you’re home from hospital soon.

  72. Dang, just when you thought you would be able to tinker with all those Christmas presents! Probably not a good idea to be using a soldering iron with all the oxygen in the hospital anyway. 🙂 But, seriously, take it easy, and when you get back home, just ease back into a full schedule. As they say, it is the quality (of the posts,) not the quantity that counts. That is what I love about your blog. It’ s great that you have others to help out. Use them. 🙂

  98. Wishing your recovery is in turbo mode and they release you with the best upgrades. Because besides really enjoying your hacking adventures, you need to get better so you can turn off these darn snow flakes. They are just sparse enough that every time I visit I think there’s a spider or ant or something climbing down my screen. 😉
