UGREEN USB3.0 to Giganet Ethernet Adaptor and GL-iNET

This is absolutely not a push for any product – I’ve been using my GL-iNET FLINT router for ages and written all about it in here. I have pretty poor broadband here in the UK attached to an OPENREACH master socket using a broadband modem/router I bought second hand for under £20 (UK money) from eBay (TP-link AC1200 Archer VR400 V3 VDSL/ADSL Modem Router Dual-Band Wireless MU-MIMO) for my new broadband account.

As that TP-Link router does not have WiFi 6 and for other reasons, I use it ONLY to provide Ethernet to my GL-iNET FLINT router which has WiFi 6 and which also handles various VPNs natively. The BT Broadband is new and in the past I’ve used the FLINT USB3 input connected to my phone to use phone USB sharing… now I have BT I want to continue to load-share with 4G but not tying up my phone.

As it happens I have a TP-Link Archer MR600 AC1200 Dual Band LTE Router and Sky (O2) 4G LTE available on the same. I read all about USB-Ethernet adaptors and it seemed that some will take the LAN output from a router and feed USB (3) into the FLINT… but many will NOT work that way around – SO I took my life into my hands and asked chatGPT – which specifically suggested the uGREEN model I just bought from Amazon.co.uk – IT WORKS. Cost me around £8 (UK money).

Here’s the Amazon link for the adaptor – I could not actually see a part number on the box and it’s important to get the right adaptor – uGREEN’s USB-C model for example is NOT compatible, it seems. Here is the USB model I bought – now attached to my TP-Link modem LAN output and FLINT USB INPUT and all working a treat.

UGREEN Ethernet to USB3 adaptor.

I had to write about this as I’m so excited it works. Inside the uGREEN box it says MODEL CM209

Also, no useful instructions but this kind of confirms the bi-directionality of the adaptor.
