If you are using a WindowsPC and are anything like me you have likely been using Auslogics Disk Defrag Free for countless years as it is so much nicer than the one that comes with Windows.
Well, after many years as I was about to move upmarket to Disk Defrag Pro (to get proper scheduling etc), I discovered Disk Defrag Ultimate – yes it IS different… and as I write this, there is no financial reason NOT to go to the Ultimate version. I’ll leave it to you in case you are interested to check the link for comparisons… while my PC is being optimised. (well, it keeps me busy now the Black Friday sales are over).
Think it is no good for SSD drives? Best read the info on their site – they might disagree,
I tried the Ultimate disk defragger and it works fine for spinning disks, but it is excruciatingly slow on my SSD. I let it run for 50 hours and it had only reached 12%. After stopping the run, I cleaned out some trash on the disk, and tried again. This time 48 hours got me to 30%. I sent an email to Auslogic, but haven’t gotten a response yet.
My computer is a quad-core Core2 with 8GB memory; the SSD is 465GB and has better than 150GB free space.
I suggest harassing Auslogics for an answer.
suggest just not using a defragger on an ssd, PERIOD…
in Italy we say, translated: “never ask the host if the wine is good”, so, never ask someone which is selling you something if that something is good or not…
I agree with Antonio which leaves the question: what to do with a hybrid drive.. defrag as usual I guess.
