The full title should be “UGREEN HiTune X6 Hybrid Active Noise-Cancelling Earbuds“. Well, earbuds are earbuds, right? These were sent to me FOC so I thought the least I could do was give them a good run. Bluetooth 5.1. Playback time 6 hours of music without resorting to the case, 26 hours using the case to charge. The case of course can be charged using USB 3.1
They LOOK GOOD. The vey first thing I did however was to put them on charge as per the English-language manual. At least I THOUGHT I did. Took me about 5 minutes to realise that although the case was charging, the buds were not. The culprit – subtle insulation for packing purposes on the buds charging connections.
Ok, I removed that and I was ready to rock. The case front light(LED) was a solid WHITE and the tiny indicators on the buds themselves were alternating white and blue at this point. Time for lunch while the buds charge.
Sure enough I returned later and with the buds still in the case, “UGREEN HiTUNE X6” appeared in my phone list of available devices. I clicked “PAIR” on the phone and that was it.
When I put the buds in my ears, they said “ANC ON” then “ANC OFF”.

Two touches on the left bud turns the volume down but you mustn’t be a slouch as I discovered. 2 touches on the right bud turns the volume up. A single touch pauses the music then resumes. A long touch (1 second) turns ANC on and alternatively off – I’ll need to be on a plane to know how well that works but even listening to my own voice I could tell a slight difference. 4 clicks switches equalisation between gaming and normal modes (with voice confirmation).
I found the mid-tones a litle sharp for my liking but simply turning on the free Android app “Equalizer” sorted that out. Volume? Plenty to spare. Bass? Plenty. Could these take over from my beloved Mi earbuds? Yes, I believe they could.
Finally, a quick blast of “It’s On Again” – Alicia Keys – from Spiderman 2… marvellous.
The buds come complete with – three different sizes of silicone tips are provided – I left the default mid-size tips in place ( I normally need the smallest). Charging up to now seems fast and the touch-setup could not be easier. If only all buds were this easy.
Had I ever heard of these buds before? No. But I’m glad I have them now! The buds have active noise cancellation + call noise cancellation. Tecnically there is apparently a low latency of 50ms (but then you’d expect that given the Bluetooth version). Sound quality is high.
Days later and I’ve not touched my Mi earbuds – I definitely like the new UGREENs. That I really wasn’t expecting.
